Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

Your pal, Jess
I'm a straight, virgo/boar INTJ (age 53) who enjoys books, getting out into nature, music, and daily exercise.

F.Y.I. There are about 2200 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

A Holy Quest!

Reading

I aspire to read a book/day, in addition to daily History (4 sources), my email,
   and the news (2 sources).
The Economist and NYT demand a large chunk of my day.
I want to learn to speed-read.
I have 3 books that list other books:
     Harold Bloom’s Western Canon
     501 Must-Read Books
1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die
I also want to read all the award-winners.

I have 2 yoga books, 9 masd (martial arts/self defense) books, 8 joke books, a (huge, heavy) trivia collection (on loan), and spanish materials (14), awaiting, as well.

Though for awhile now (over a year), I have been distracted by music, email, news, wikipedia, and history, I’d like to get back in the habit of processing and crunching my way through book lists of recommended literature, award-winners, and my favorite authors.

It would be nice to count all the books, own all the books, and set a schedule, to actually FINISH all the books!  Then I can I sit back, watch tv, and maybe write a book or two of my own :-).   Owning, of course, is not necessary, with libraries and interlibrary loans and the internet.  And things like Kindles.  But having a number quantifying how many books (even better, the number of pages/book!), and an amount of time, I could feel much better about my quest.  Being informed and educated and entertained is an Epic Adventure!
