I am an annihilationist. I did not realize the name for it. Death is final and there is no rebirth. But I’d be happy to be reborn in “heaven.” Will I die with an open mind? Or with hope? Does it even matter, my final state of mind? I think not. I don’t believe in “souls.” Maybe computers will have some way of preserving mind, by the time I die, though, no? Lifespan, a bridge (span) between pre-existence and post-existence, which can be thought to be the same thing, the same state, the same nihility, nothingness, no-self. Oblivion, fated for all. I think this is fairly obvious, actually. Alright? Afterlife is just life, after you’re dead. The world doesn’t end when you do, you know! Life goes on. Your dna will persist, maybe, through children, somewhat. That’s as far as it goes. And things like blogs! I guess this means I believe that the Buddha wasn’t in fact enlightened. Samsara isn’t real, it’s a delusion.
Path to awakening. Set an alarm, lol. Or tell your mom or whatever to wake you up. Or a rude awakening, by being on autopilot and saying something insensitive to someone who takes offense, or will give you hell. That’s my preliminary meditation on Awake! (a JW tract, too). A wake is also a service for the family of the recently deceased. Or the trail of a boat. They're calling politically correct "woke" these days, too.
No cruelty, ill-will. Not a source of suffering (like eating meat). No lying, rudeness, gossip. No theft, injury, killling, sex, cheating. Be conscious, mindful, not absent-minded. Patient, with willingness to endure hardship. Insight into non-duality.
