F.Y.I. There are about 2200 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Apocalyptic Whisperings

Or scary, anyway.

“If Iran continues with its program for developing nuclear weapons, we will attack it. The sanctions are ineffective,” Transport Minister Shaul Mofaz told the mass-circulation Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper. “Attacking Iran, in order to stop its nuclear plans, will be unavoidable,” said the former army chief who has also been defense minister. It was the most explicit threat yet against Iran from a member of Olmert’s government.

Mofaz also said in the interview that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has called for Israel to be wiped off the map, “would disappear before Israel does.”

Israeli planes destroyed Iraq’s nuclear reactor in 1981.

Independent analysts have questioned, however, whether Israel’s armed forces can take on Iran alone, as its nuclear sites are numerous, distant and well-fortified.

What I have to say is, why the hell do ANY countries have nuclear weapons? Israel obviously has them. If they don't, they should tout it to the world with pride. And what makes one state so superior to any other? We're all just human beings trying to get by. I'm sorry, but Israel is not my chosen people/state. I love all my fellow beings equally. And that doesn't mean I want the whole world to be Jewish. All religions are fine with me. Just be nice, be kind, be compassionate, be considerate, be friendly, be good, don't kill each other. I'm not asking that much. So if we're developing nuclear power to counter global warming around the world, then go ahead, but let's not be opaque, let's be transparent, and obey commonsense rules of world health; i.e. no dang nukes, allright? Having nukes is terrorism, in my view, and America is just as guilty. What is the world's fricking problem? NO NUKES. Hand out and train the world to use handguns, if you have to, but NO NUKES. They spell the end of the human race, they utterly annihilate and destroy, and they lead to nuclear winter. Our environment is fucked up enough as it is. Read Hiroshima. That's what I believe, and that is my rant.

By the way, it's impossible to "wipe" a country "off the map," as if anybody would really want to. The expression is obviously just being rhetorical. Ahmedinejad is trying to be popular. He's not really in charge. And, besides, they don't want Palestine to be an irradiated wasteland. So get real, you ridiculous posturing goofballs.
Update 7-8: "The Zionist regime is pressuring White House officials to attack Iran. If they commit such a stupidity, Tel Aviv and US shipping in the Persian Gulf will be Iran's first targets and they will be burned in Iran's crushing response," Mr Shirazi was quoted as saying by Iranian news agencies. Ali Shirazi is a cleric working as representative of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to the naval unit of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards. "The Iranian nation will never accept bullying. The Iranian nation is a nation of believers which believes in jihad and martyrdom. No army in the world can confront it," he said. Iran insists that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes.
