God, etc.
God is love. Is love God? God is superman's cape (caritas, agape, philia, eros). Love almighty? It's an emotion, with feelings, and commitment, although temporary, and needing to be periodically renewed. It's blind, can be unconditional, or unrequited, but also rational, beneficial, causing happiness, financial security, satisfaction, a reciprocal relationship of learning, accepting, and even cherishing and celebrating our flaws, is wrapped up in sex, children, friendship, sense of self, and touted as the cure for solipsism. It is said, : Falling in love is to relationships what revolution is to countries. Philosophy is a love of wisdom, while perhaps the subject should have emphasis on the love of love. The love of Christ, the love for Christ, like Sufi longing for union and intimacy with the divine, is all about connection, possibility, fulfillment, purpose. Flaw and flops. Position, possession, passion, and potions! A full life, beyond just an appreciation for truth, beauty, kindness, humor, knowledge, and wisdom. Foolish to Fall Out Of Love? Love of food and music and family, or friends with benefits, are their own categories. What's love got to do with it? Reproductive success, genetic imperatives, genes and resources, biology and evolution, and of course what we've been taught about tots, tights, tattoos, and teats :-). It can also be broken-hearted misery. It can be based on deal-makers and deal-breakers, moderated through a technical sifting of data on dating websites. It's been said to be a "numbers game." Arranged marriages, it is said, are as or more successful than the romanticized kind. Love be with you. And also with you.
