Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

F.Y.I. There are about 2200 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Barack on Abortion

The following two quotes make Barack seem wishy-washy (perhaps astute):
But I think he's trying to guide the discussion
(a charitable interpretation)

1.(quote from procon.org):

Should abortion remain a legal option in America?"

Pro: "One of the things that I've always said is that abortion is a deeply moral issue. And those who would deny that there is a moral component to it I think are wrong. The reason that I make a decision to support the choice position is not because I don't think it's a moral issue but because I trust women to make a prayerful decision about this issue."
-"Obama on Gay Marriage, Abortion," The Brody File, CBNnews.com, Nov. 7, 2007

2. “Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God's will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.”

What I say
Murder is wrong for people of all faiths, no?
In any case, I'm sure he doesn't want to make murder legal.
Yes, God supposedly said Thou shalt not kill. But our legal system says that, too.
I would say that the principle he is looking for that is not religious, is the CONSISTENT LIFE ETHIC.
