Buddhism holds belief in karma and samsara.   I don’t.

   Karma, as an impersonal law of the universe, rewards and punishes, without any agency.  Thoughts, words, and actions of virtue and vice, instantly re-arrange the universe into beneficial or adverse consequences, if not now, then later.   It’s called instantiation.  Maybe this even includes heaven and hell afterlives.

    Justice is desirable.   Like heaven.   We’d like it to be true.   Karma is an elegant theory.   I just don’t think it’s so.   Sorry.

    I don’t believe in Samsara, either.   (The endless cycle of rebirth and suffering).  The oceans were not filled with tears.  Once any of us die, that’s it.  But I can see why a religion would pose a non-existent problem that only itself can fix.  The universe isn’t that orderly.  It’s not logical and structured to be just.   But I could be wrong.  I’m not 100% on this.  I just agree with the folks who hold that life isn’t fair (necessarily).

     So I guess I’m not Buddhist.  I’m a religion unto myself.  Enlightenment is totally doable, though.   I agree with Shinzen Young.  I read his The Science of Enlightenment.   Good stuff.
