Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

Your pal, Jess

F.Y.I. There are about 2200 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Pastor tacos, regular and super, los pericos

pastors, watching over their flocks of pigs (drifts or droves)

feeding red bull to your hogs, gives them wings,

and also makes humans into angels, who fly in space

so you can infer angels don't breathe

pigeons are pigs that fly, (rock doves)

pig gin?  drunken pigs;  rocking chairs rock!

eucharistic pork and Red Bull?  why not

  Meet me at the meatery

Ashton Kutcher’s butcher

Veg Afghan burritos are the best!!

I sit in the dark, in a house, in San Leandro, in California, in the USA, on earth, about 93 million miles from the sun, in the Orion arm of the Milky Way (100’s of billions of stars), in a local group (36 galaxies) in the Virgo supercluster (45,000+ galaxies)… in the OU (observable universe, like 90 billion light years across).   The farthest object we have ever detected (from earth) is 13.5 billion light years away.  the Big Bang was 13.8 Billion years ago.  The farthest we CAN see is 46.5 billion light years, in any direction.  The no. of galaxies in the OU is 100-200 billion galaxies, report astronomers/cosmologists.  The guess as to the total, including those we’ve missed, is maybe 2 trillion galaxies.  Total number of stars? 100 billion stars per galaxy x 2 trillion galaxies yields: 200 billion trillion*.

      200,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000 (2 followed by 23 zeros). :-)

*And "most" of these stars are said to have exoplanets

the internet says there are (very roughly) 10,000 stars for every grain of sand on earth!  the average distance between stars (in our galaxy) is about 5 light years.   Proxima Centauri, the closest star (other than the sun) to us, is 4.25 light years away.   One light year is about 6 trillion miles.  Light travels at around 186,000 miles per second (c = about 186,282 mps).  The distance around the earth at the equator is 24,901 miles (polar circumference is about 41 miles less).  The radius of the sun is 432,474 miles.  The average spot in space is completely dark. Someone said the warping of time causes gravity.  They also say spacetime isn't infinite.  Grok?  I don't either.

nothing goes faster than light?

Physicists HAVE beaten the speed of light, in the laboratory (a pulse sent through a cloud of cesium).   This does NOT permit time travel, the physicists say.  Also, the stars at the edge of the observable universe are receding from us faster than the speed of light.  The universe is expanding, and the expansion is accelerating, the further you go.  The farthest object from us ever detected, HD1, is 33.4 Billion light years away, which is actually from 324 Million light years after the Big Bang (13.8 Billion years ago)...
