Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Bible Math

So, I read the bible.

Supposedly, the word of God, right?  It’s the most widely read book on earth.  In a zillion versions, in a zillion languages, and with x chapter, y verse.  It’s kind of a mathematical construct, actually.   The pythagoreans worshipped numbers.  RC’s bible has 73 books, the Protestants, 66 (39 OT and 27 NT).  One count, online, says The Bible has 1,189 chapters and 31,173 verses and 773,746 words, with 3,566,480 letters.   There are at least 67 versions in English, alone.  And it’s in at least 724 languages, and counting.  The Guinness Book of World Record estimates that more than 5 billion copies have been printed.  It’s sold 40 million copies in the last 60 years.  It has approximately 40 authors (9 of them NT), and was written over a period of 1500-1600 years.  And my copy (NKJV) has 834 pages.
