If the world were perfect, it wouldn't be -Yogi Berra
Aridity and disenchantment
impermanence vs. hungry-ghosts (well, which is it?)
Buddhism doesn’t do much for torture, I’m willing to venture
Except that it leads to compassion, and loving-kindness -
So Buddhists won’t torture, or even become soldiers (right livelihood)
Buddhists have understanding, and want joy and the best for others -
Someone with equanimity and sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings and misfortunes of others, isn’t likely to get tortured, I’d have to say, as well.
So Buddhism does quite a bit for torture, you could also say.
Torture does something for Buddhism (!):
Whatever you’re going through,
it’s not as bad as you think it is,
it could be (a lot) worse
if you're going through hell, keep going
