Godspeed

 Virtue

Be good.  What is good?  Actions (think, say, do, be) that make the world a better place, conducive to progress.  That defeat and prevent evil.  That make people happy.  That reduce suffering.  That create health, wealth, wisdom, and love.  Laughter, fun, and games.  Pleasure and relaxation, contentment, satisfaction, comfort, ease.   Peace, safety, security, preparedness.  Less torture and torment, more joy and bliss.  Learning how to suffer, to accept death and destruction.  Dying well.  Friendship and kindness.   Mercy, compassion, sympathy, empathy, equanimity.   Ecstasy, delight, glee, felicity, euphoria, enchantment!  Not breaking the law, staying out of prison, and leading by example, being of service, helping those in need, inspiring others as a role-model, and loving life.  Becoming enlightened, helping others see truth, and fighting for what is right.  Keeping an open mind, realizing you don’t have all the answers, and tempering pride with a dose of humility.  Lifelong learning and never giving up, engaging and being alive to thrive, til the very end.  Striving to be one’s best, creating an expectation for excellence, for growth, for perfection.  To give it your all, and to be satisfied with your self, knowing you did all you could.  No regrets, no beating yourself up.  This is virtue. 

Then again, nobody’s perfect.   Even God isn’t a saint.  Saint Yahweh?  Saint Allah? What a joke.  Comedians make people laugh and smile.  Satire pokes fun at everyone.  But the Joker is a criminal.  And life is shit.  Religion is full of it.  We’re all dying, and nothing makes any difference.  So meditate on that, and be who you want to be.  You are the God of your own life.   Love believes all things.  Maybe it’s better to hate.   There’s a lot to loathe.  What is the answer?  Love what is good, and brook no evil.  But remember, God is everywhere, and can make good of even the worst.  So let go, and let God.  Go slow, and love life.  Peace be upon you.  A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteoous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.  Forgive those who trespass against us.  Do your duty, help other people at all times, keep yourself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.  Be prepared.  Do a good turn daily.  Let us not talk falsely now.  Godspeed.
