F.Y.I. There are about 2200 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Grateful Dead

the concept of hell derives from death

the inescapable universality and fate

   of non-existence and oblivion,

the truth of impermanence

the acceptance of death, one's own and everyone else's, requires a belief in hell (infinite dukkha, a sea of discontent, an ocean of tears, hellfire and burning flesh, sulphur and brimstone, etc.) to make Non-Being comparatively and relatively pleasant and desirable.

However, expecting to be grateful for being dead, feeling Relief, as it were, is stupid and retarded, in my view, because death is obviously the end of consciousness, so you won't be thanking God after you're dead.  The value of hell is accorded only by way of prior contemplation.

Hell is part of a dynamic, a dialectic, a process:  Fear of God and obedience and behavioral modification, from a promise of reward or punishment, carrot and stick, pleasure and pain, positive and negative inducements and reinforcements, award and reward versus threat and risk, inducing desired outcomes, making an offer that can't be refused, like Pascal's wager, learning a principle of psychology, used by parents and priests, and governments, and thereby learning a fundamental truth, which is good, and therefore godly, itself (even if the truth is unpleasant).  The divine (and diabolical) incentive structure.  D and D.   Sex and candy vs. torment and torture.

Hell is good, because it leads to a healthy acceptance of a universal truth, namely, Death:   Infinite and permanent unbeing, absence, oblivion, non-existence, nothingness, gone, over, done, finished, zero.  dust to dust.   scattered to the four winds.  a memory.  a puff of wind.  forgotten.  just another one of god's dreams.  lost in the sands of time.  kaput, finito, the end.

The concept of hell can be hellish, itself.   The reality of it, suffering, creates the need for the realization that there is an end to suffering, as well as a way/path/method to that end: in this case, not having an attachment to life, or an aversion to death, or a delusion of immortality, or a confusion about sleep and dreams, but an acceptance of Reality, Fact, Truth.   You can resent God or Death, or you can derive comfort from the fact that everybody else will die, too; we're all in the same boat.  Death is heaven by virtue of it not being hell.  We're all going to heaven.  We're all already there, actually.   Reality being positive, negative, or neutral is all in our heads.  Perhaps this is as farcical as the belief we inhabit "the best of all possible worlds."  I just wanted to throw it out there.  Is it true?

They say "love never dies".   David Foster Wallace's biography is entitled, "every love story is a ghost story."  They say cats have 9 lives.  I saw a bumper sticker once that said, Everyone Lives Forever.  I don't care what you believe.  You can believe anything or anyone you want.   Even if I'm God, lol.   Maybe nothing exists.  Or we're all automata, and nobody is free.  Or we live in a Matrix.   Or we are what we eat, less what we excrete, and we're just DNA machines, with other DNA in our guts, part of an ecosystem, all animals, in God's zoo.  Or we're hallucinating ourselves in an alternate, holographic, universe, or something.  The Smashing Pumpkins sing The world is a vampire.  Do black holes suck? Do white holes blow? Are we doomed?  Is it hopeless? Am I a deluded fool, and Is immortal bliss actually possible?  Let there be light!   life is but a dream.  A nightmare, sometimes; pleasurable, other times; usually, just weird, lol.      Awake!  Wake up!  A new day, a fresh start, maybe even "born again."   Meditate, press reset.  Sitting meditation, walking meditation, writing meditation, lectio divina.  Ready, steady, go!

It should be said, unending orgasm is on the list, and is NOT a continual ecstasy.
