Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

Your pal, Jess

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Be a Human Being

Don’t be a superhero, a deity, a vampire, or a savage beast:

You’re a person, a being who uses language, a member of humanity,  homo sapiens, and a society, and specific culture, with wondrous and magical technologies, and libraries.   Libraries are amazing.  Insanely amazing, if you ask me.  They’re repositories of experience, voyages of imagination and escape that can take you anywhere, and finish leaving you inhabiting a different world than you began.   You can be depraved, or you can be a saint, it’s all there.  You don’t have to get prison raped or crucified, either, although you can read about that, as well.   Books change the world.  They’re time and space portals.   Teleportation machines.  Past, present, future, here, there, anywhere.  Heaven is a kind of library.  You know where I heard that?  A library.  And it’s true.  Just don’t go blind.  But there are audiobooks and big print books, if you need them.  Yay, libraries.   You can be a nonhuman, in a book.  You can write your own book, and escape that way, too.  You ARE an animal, but you don’t have to prey on others, like the rest of nature.  Read on, you crazy lector.
