We are all criminals
Am I the only person aware of this? By 'this', I mean, my dictionary... it says, on the reverse of the title page (The Chambers Dictionary, 10th edition), and I quote:
"All rights reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying or otherwise, without the prior permission of the publisher."
Any thinking person, in their right mind, who reads this, should be aware that every word in the English language (!), is therefore off limits and illegal, to speak or write, using your brain as a retrieval system.
This is obvious, to me. And if the law is that stupid, why should we obey anything? That seems like a logical, sensible, response to this insanity. Going further, a reserved "right" could refer to a boxer, who is only allowed to use his left.
Well, whatever. Just a thought.
Thought I'd share.
plus, today's fun: Sindh, Pakistan (pik satan, sinned); MM (missile mail); a tribe of Alans!; a hungry ostrich (Austro-Hungarian); an awkward aunt in Antioch; Acre (Israel) is over 13,000 dunums; off Mayrocker: plays, poetry, and prose. premier, prime minister, president. primer, propellant, projectile.
purchasing power parity. paycheck protection program. public-private partnership. post partum psychosis. powerpoint presentation. psychology, physiology, philosophy (Oxford degree).
And last, but not least, - S.J. scarred and jaded (2 types of saints: martyrs (killed), and confessors (punished), says the emcee. Over 10,000 named (catholic) saints and beatified people, but a saint is "anyone in heaven, whether recognized on earth or not" (who prove pleasing to the lord).
