Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

Your pal, Jess
I'm a straight, virgo/boar INTJ (age 53) who enjoys books, getting out into nature, music, and daily exercise.

F.Y.I. There are about 2200 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Urf Day

Surf's up, dude

Earth, the only known habitat for life, in the entire universe (so far)

A blue ball, a spinning planet, orbiting an obscure star

With water, seas, plants, trees, birds, bees, you, and…me

The star will expand, burning off our water

Hopefully by then we humans will have gotten our act together

and built spaceships, to colonize and terraform other planets

But for now, our one sun is a lot of fun

Warmth and light, heat and bright, feeling and sight

All of us dependent on one another

Humans as animals, with speech and machines

With phones and computers and televisions and instruments

Of music, and death, and other things

Books and libraries, websites and internet

Classes for the masses, churches and birches

unicycles, bicycles, tricycles, cars, planes, helicopters

Technology, psychology, biology, and theology

Limnology, anthropology, geology, entomology

Ecology, ecosystems, eco warriors, and economics

Forests and streams and rivers and lakes and oceans

History and geologic time, and rhyme

The butterfly flutters by

Nature, you are a nut

Crazy and lazy daisies on a hazy day

Geezus, seize us - Jesus sees us, in Belize, us

Like bees, us.  Never ceases, collecting honey

Makin’ that money, comedians being funny

Nose is runny, sunshine is sunny, hopping bunny

Every day is earth day, a birth day, a day of worth, and mirth

For what it’s worth, Gaia’s girth, and Australian Perth

Economy and Deuteronomy and autonomy and pawns of me

Fresh air, sunshine, trees, fauna, flora, waves, beach, fish

Whales, octopi, crabs, jellyfish, dolphins, seals, otters, seahorses, sea lions, snails, starfish, turtles, tuna, seaweed, sand dollars, anemones, squid, penguins, sharks, microscopic thingies, plankton, krill, shrimp, prawns, manta rays, alligators, crocodiles, caimans, manatees, boxfish, sailfish, swordfish, sawfish, schools, mermaids, aquaman, atlantis… Just a small sample (and coral, dear god, the coral!).  Deer, dear.  Bees, honey.  Birds with dark wings, darling.

Love above, flow below, heft to the left, might to the right

Quite a sight, to see nature fight

But dogs don’t really eat dogs, do they?

In a mood for food, I could eat a rude dude, or a lewd nude

Instead of being sued, or having a ‘tude, I could chew on you!

We are civilized.   That means we eat from “cow-shwitz”

Aint no fakin’ bacon (actually, it’s not that bad)

Is Tegan a vegan?  Say again?  Ronald Regan can see again?

I’d rather blather than slather sauce on my boss, Ross

But a bloody buddy is a study in muddy crud, Judd

The agony of Antigone, the pain of an insane brain

The gore of war, of bored whores, and poor doing chores.

Plants and trees are more for me than cruel gruel, fool
