Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

Your pal, Jess

F.Y.I. There are about 2200 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

I leave Tuesday for a trip to Portland OR, for a week (21-28)
which I'm looking forward to and excited about
if I move, it won't be til Spring

my (47th) birthday is coming up.
I want an Amazon Echo (Alexa).
I got a nice (xl) jacket, last night, at dinner with my parents

Michael Helbush, a roommate of mine here in Berkeley, is routinely enjoying my mr. coffee in the morning (or when he gets up, which could be the afternoon), napping/resting on my futon, reading the economist and "best of the best" scifi book (from san francisco, which i've already read), and listening to music from my computer on my wireless headphones (he especially likes Steely Dan and the Grateful Dead).  He's a retired philosophy professor, a presbyter at his Alameda church, an avid reader, a former student at the GTU (graduate theological union), a longtime friend of my landlord (edgar), and a talkative, friendly, jolly soul who enjoys npr and hearts of space, and lots of bacon, chicken, and eggs.  We share our food pantry provisions.  His birthday is coming in October ('55).

I have 10 roommates: Edgar, Victor, Isabel, Miguel, Antonio, Aaron, Jose, Eddie, Elias, and Michael.
(11 total, including me, Jesse; or, as my dad just learned, in spanish: Chuy, Jesus, or Isai)
