I've been hearing this phrase in my head for awhile, now
(but it's in the news from the governor of Puerto Rico, after hurricane Maria)
what it means:
8 possibilities (but we all know it's just one)
"people are dying"
1. literally (just dead)
or, getting closer to death (all of us, right?)
2.figuratively, a. (embarrassment), b. ("little death", aka orgasm)
3. code: (dying = killing) e.g. you are dying me
4. homonym, dye-ing (coloring a fabric)
5. DI-ing (e.g. princess Diana)
6.die-ing (obsolete form of the singular of dice)
i think there's more!
using google-
1.da'i (arabic):
someone who invites another into Islam (missionary, engaging in dawah)
(i dreamed of a girl saying "hada'a", and there was a website using the word dai)
2.(japanese) table
3.(chinese) band
4.(italian) from
5.(hindi) safety
it makes me think of I, Da. (adi da, yes?)
And, while we're on the subject of death,
military slogans:
1.aim high
2.be all that you can be
3.get an edge on life
4.army of one
5.army strong
and, on a related note, associations for the word 'pillow' (!)
PLO (palestinian liberation organization)
pill o
pill ow
pill low
(e.g. viagra, painkillers, and prozac ("upper")("and one pill brings you low")
de plo rable, di plo macy, im plo sion!!
