Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

Your pal, Jess

F.Y.I. There are about 2500 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Irene

The premise of this blog is that I am God.   But not just me.   You, too.   Everyone, really.   If God is everywhere, He is in all, interpenetrates.   If Reality is all the God there ever is, then God is You, always and already.  God is good.   It’s linguistic.  Just like the devil is evil.   It doesn’t have to mean any more than that.  What is good?  Kindness, compassion, love, charity, comfort, contentment, bliss.   I’m sure you can think of others.   The cardinal virtues and such.  Refraining from criminality, whether that be petty or capital.   To be good is simply to not be bad.   It doesn’t have to be saintliness.   If the requirement for an eternal life of bliss in Heaven after you die is to be good, that’s really a low bar, if you ask me.  But only God is good, so you have to be God.

There are lots of Gods, names for God, and even room for new religions and improvements of those already laying claim to your faith and religiosity, your attention.  What does the Bible and Koran say God is?   God is beneficent, merciful.  God is a man of war.  God is love.  God is One.  And plenty more.   Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.   All is frustration, futility, absurdity, nonsense.  This is the word of the Lord.

So you don’t have to change yourself to be God.   You were made in the image of God, by God, and if you are good, are God Himself.  So be good.   That’s what all the religions boil down to.  Don’t be evil- Google.  Do a good turn daily -Boy Scouts (slogan).   Love all, serve all -Hard Rock Cafe.  Be good for goodness’ sake - Santa.  Don’t worry, be happy! - Bobby McFerrin.   Love the sinner, but not the sin -Mom.   There is no sin, only crime -Me.   Morality is just about preferences, opinion.  The golden rule comes in several forms:  Don’t do unto others what you would not have done to yourself.   Do unto others what you would have others do to you.   And neither - People have different tastes.  :-)

Personally, I don’t believe in souls or an afterlife (of reward, punishment, or ongoing normality).   Once you die, you’re dead, that’s it.  Oblivion is the universal fate.  You can leave behind a legacy, and kids, and things like books.  It doesn’t hurt to hope, though.   Break on through to the other side, yeah.  But I’d rather be surprised.  We have one life to live.   So do what you want, make this life heavenly.  I do believe in karma.   You get what you give.   You reap what you sow.   Life is good!  I’m a firm believer in positivity, service, pleasure, nature, music, libraries, good food, travel, movies, fitness, beauty, dreams, humor, and things like a dip in a pool, sunning yourself, writing, good conversation, and creativity.   Lifelong learning, staying curious.  Virtue, service, and making lots of money.  Amen.

So smile, laugh, tell jokes, have fun, play, and ham it up.   Life is ridiculous.   Life is a cereal.  You can be a cereal killer.   Like a comedian that kills.   You can be a man of war, that fights for peace, to prevent war from starting in the first place, that fights the psy war, the war of words, the irenic diplomacy we all want.   When I dip, you dip, we dip.  Ha.  Peace be with you.
