Welcome!

I, God, welcome you to my blog!

The good book says only God is good, so it seems to me somebody needs to step up.

I hope you enjoy reading this, the Jesse Journal, as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to subscribe, write me an email, request that I write about any particular topic you may want my perspective on, send a prayer, click on the charity link, or donate money to my bicycle fund! Have fun!

F.Y.I. There are about 2200 posts..

Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

 Reading, Writing, and ‘rithmatic

Short stories and books by your favorite authors are a delight, taking you to different and new times and places and imaginations and possibilities.   The ss format is punchy and well-written and memorable, each one a slice of life, living on in your head, with their characters and imagery and situations.   Books are like plane tickets.   They take you places, transport you, “escapist.”   They give insight, new information, a form of meditation, or enlightenment, and bliss.  Heaven is a kind of library -Borges.    There’s also reference books and science, to understand Reality, and dive deep into whatever specialization is your cup of tea, up your alley, a focus of curiosity.  Reading is a productive use of time, edifying and entertaining.   Personally, I think books are better than tv or movies.

Writing is fun, too.   You clarify your thoughts, order them, give them structure, put them into words, paragraphs, chapters.   It’s creative and productive, literary and poetic.  A kind of permanence given to ephemeral thought.  You share your mind, create a record to consult yourself later.   You can go for a swim in your past, your own mind.  You mold and construct an identity, too, if you like.   Writing is powerful.  Sometimes speech is awkward.   Writing permits greater clarity, and reflection, depth.

I like numbers, too.   I mostly only use them to calculate my budget (wallet cash, checking, savings, BTC, owed debts, anticipated payments for the month, and extras like amazon gift cards, or EBT food money allowance.   It gives a sense of control and feeling responsible, allowing frugality and hopefully wise expenditure.
