Here's a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky to start things off right: Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Islam Rising

God doesn't care what you are
Or,
It only matters if you have babies in heaven

Everything's Relative: Monsignor Vittorio Formenti, who compiles the Vatican's yearbook, said recently that Catholics account for 17.4 percent of the world population (a stable percentage), while Muslims are now at 19.2 percent. "It is true that while Muslim families, as is well known, continue to make a lot of children, Christian ones on the contrary tend to have fewer and fewer," he said. The data refers to 2006, so presumably now in '08 Islam has even more, if not a greater percentage of, adherents.

Is the monsignor right? Is the Christian birthrate lower than the Muslim one? Sure, but maybe not because of their religion. So, whatever. I don't care what religion you are, anyway. And, I don't care how many, if any, kids you have. You don't even have to believe in me. I'm an army of one.

By the way, I was only kidding about the babies in heaven bit. You will have no babies after you die. Everyone is already in heaven, though. Earth is a close to Paradise as you're ever going to get, so be happy in whatever belief system/organized religion you choose, and have as many or few bundles of joy as you desire. I say that Paradise is a city in California, and Earth is in Heaven (already). And almighty God is a living man. Several living men, actually:

And God is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Shammgod, a basketball player who played a season in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, "one of the most polluted cities in the world,’’ for a team that finished 4-26. He reportedly lives a "grim existence" in China, eating at Pizza Hut and McDonald’s, the only Western restaurants in the city, and has to "endure hours of repetitive, endurance-test practices,’’ "wade through cigarette-smoke-clogged hallways’’ to get to the locker room and "stay in hotels without shower curtains and with old cigarette butts on the bathroom floor.’’ He prefers to be called Shamm, and when he's not playing ball, while in China, he's likely online, downloading NBA games or highlights, talking on Skype, emailing or IMing with his wife, kids and countless friends, including NBA stars Chauncey Billups and Kevin Garnett.

He is not the only God:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/world/americas/2318291.stm The 55-year-old former Charles Haffey said he hoped the name change would free him from feelings of anxiety and rage that have plagued him since he served in Vietnam. "I was fatally wounded in the mind and the spirit," he said. "I didn't suffer any bodily injury. It's just what I saw, what I did. I killed myself."

Also, there is:
God is dead. "Well, as of March 13, 2006, Nietzche was proved correct. God is indeed dead. He died in Boulder. I know, because I wrote his obit" says AAA God online (A God wrote God's obituary?). I assume this is the man that appeared on Comedy Central awhile back for an interview. Good man.

There is an arrest warrant out for (another) God.
http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23440568-5012895,00.html

There are, of course, "rock gods". 1Cor 10:4 says Christ is a rock. This site says Axl Rose is God: http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=4410070355&ShowSims=Y

And of course, there are other people/gods like David Berg (deceased) or Adi Da. So that's 8 Gods. And then there's lil' ol' me.

While looking up the Christian birthrate, I found an article that stands in opposition to one I heard about earlier. Aha! Some digging to do. The article below says humanity has to worry about depopulation (!)
http://www.taemag.com/issues/articleID.18358/article_detail.asp
vs.
A study, entitled Food,Land,Population, and the U.S.Economy, of which only excerpts are shown, claims humanity already has 2/3 too many people, and WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE (lol)) This study was mentioned in the eschatology (scientific) article on Wikipedia.
http://dieoff.org/page40.htm

If you're a policy maker, and you care about the future of humanity, then please read these two articles, and sift them through your truth filter, so as to act accordingly.

Frankly, I do not care when everyone dies. Death is the way of all things. Please accept your eternal fate. You can, of course, take intelligent action to prolong your genetic presence, individually and as a human society and everything in between. I am...sorry.

Electoral Reform

Chad is also a country

I got this quote from Wikipedia, which I thought deserved commentary:

In the United States, members of the Green Party of the U.S. have not been elected to the federal level. However, in 2000 the candidacy of Ralph Nader as the Green party candidate is thought to have made enough difference in the Florida election recount to throw the presidential race to George W. Bush, notwithstanding Al Gore's edge in the popular vote total.

1. This is a sad, and, in my view, unfair fact. Shouldn't the electoral system somehow count the opinions of Green party constituents for the Democratic constituency, especially in light of the fact that Democrats have what I assume most Greens would agree is a better environmental record?

2. Also, I hear Florida still hasn't got it's sh-- together, regarding their voting machines. If we are to have a functioning democracy, we have to have a democracy in which every vote counts. People like landslides, but some people also like slim victories, if only for the reason that it empowers the democratic process, telling the electorate that yes, they really can make a difference at the voting booth even on an individual level. People like close basketball games.

b)http://techdirt.com/articles/20070802/001816.shtml

3. Also, maybe everybody should have the same, and best, voting machine possible.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_voting_machine

Close elections should be possible, and evenly happily welcomed. This can only happen if we have a thoroughly reliable system. And, I think, common sense should prevail. Then again, maybe the Greens are happier with Bush:

Non-Adults: The Future

In other words: infancy, childhood, and youth
I see why

There are various terms and categories for non-adults: newborn/neonate, infant, child, pre-teen, teenager, adolescent, youth. There are biological criteria, and legal criteria. Legally, a youth is defined as 15-24, for the U.N. An adult in many countries, including the U.S., however, is 18. An infant is less than one year old, or unable to walk. A newborn, or neonate, is less than 1 month old. Then there are toddlers and pre-schoolers. The other pre is pre-teens. A teen would obviously be 13 to 19.

None of this is really that relevant for me. I basically would say if you are not adult, you are youth. The definition of adulthood varies from country to country. I, being American, will just say 18. Or, as Chef on South Park says, the time to have sex is 17.

So, if I want to find out the current youth population, I should know how many are under 18. Or I could use the U.N. definition and look up the demography age 24 or younger. Using this scheme, I could try to do an age breakdown on children (0-14), and youth (15-24). Children include infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and everyone else under age 15, like preteens and early teens. I think 13 and 14 year olds are teenagers. They are, right? Anyway,

Now, we have 6.7B (specifically, 6.6579B, according to the U.S. census bureau) people.
http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/popclockworld.html

In 1985, the world population was 4.854B. So, 1.8039B people have been added to the world, net, more or less, since 1985. The oldest of the '85 cohort would be 23 by now, which is still in the U.N. youth category. (The world "youth" population (age 19 or less) was 1.744B, then). That leaves it fuzzy. How many of us died since '85, and how many were born (still living) in '84? There's infant mortality and mortality, in general, to take into account. But to do the calculation anyway, using the same number of youth, I could guesstulate that they make up about 27 percent of the world.

I couldn't find any good global youth-percentage statistics on the net.
Although,
1. I did find this 1985 global population chart, if however less-than-perfect (we should have a graph, and more current at that):
http://www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/resources/data/worldpop.htm
And
2. Aha! This is not a graph, but it's better (click on the bottom of the page).
http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/idb/worldpopinfo.html

Actually, that was weird that I came up with 27%, because I just found this fact on Wikipedia: According to the 2006 CIA World Factbook, around 27% of the world's population is below 15 years of age. If you add the eight more years the U.N. defines as youth, the under 25 year olds make up a pretty good chunk of total world population.

The conspiratorial might say they chose the age 15, to generate that percentage, or that I am controlled by the cia, lol.

Anyway, let's see what that percentage is. I did the math with the U.S. (global) census data. 2.41B people are 19 or under. And almost 3B are under 25. Specifically (and to the person!), the percentage of youth (under 25) on earth IS (drumroll please) about 44.915%. That's 2,999,238,077 divided by 6,677,563,921 (!).

In any case, youth will be the leaders of tomorrow. Or they can be the leaders of today, in fact.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Ravenstahl (He became a U.S. mayor at age 26, after gaining a seat on Pittsburg's city council at age 23). You've got to enjoy your youth, though, if you can. People can be so serious. Even dour.

Youth (maybe you're young at heart?) can either join existing leadership structures, or form new ones. Here is the CIA factbook link on every current political party and leader in the world today (3/08). Youth, if you don't form your own parties, make your voices heard to the existing ones. Empower thyself. Have a party!

Malnutrition

Feed Your Head, Feed the Poor

I have that charitable musical album "Feed the World" (let them know it's Christmastime), on vinyl, from back in the day. Things haven't changed all that much.

Then again, in 2006, Professor Popkin from the University of North Carolina, said there were now more overweight people across the world than undernourished people. He told the International Association of Agricultural Economists the number of overweight people had topped one billion (of which 300 million are obese), compared with 800 million undernourished.

As of 2008, malnutrition continues to be a worldwide problem, particularly in lesser developed countries. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, "850 million people worldwide were undernourished in 1999 to 2005, the most recent years for which figures are available" and the number of malnourished people has recently been increasing. The Wikipedia article quotes 852 million hungry people currently. That this number continues to suffer from chronic hunger and malnutrition in a time of unprecedented plenty is obscene, in my opinion. These people lead a life of misery and are denied the most basic of human rights: the right to food.

The United Nations Development Program estimates that the basic health and nutrition needs of the world's poorest people could be met for an additional $13 billion a year. Animal lovers in the United States and Europe spend more than that on pet food each year. In developing countries nearly 16 million children die every year from preventable and treatable causes. Sixty percent (9.6M) of these deaths are from hunger and malnutrition. Another source says 36,000 children die from malnutrition per day (13.14M/yr), and that over 230 million children below the age of five suffer from malnutrition.

In any case, $13B is nothing (in a $48T economy), and it's basically criminal that the world hasn't stopped this problem yet. Healthy food is a basic human right.

Is the following still current?:
a)Over a third of the world's malnourished children live in India (with 53% for the proportion of India's children being malnourished (in '92-'93)).

b)We have the food. World agriculture produces 17 percent more calories per person today than it did 30 years ago, despite a 70 percent population increase. This is enough to provide everyone in the world with at least 2,720 kilocalories (kcal) per person per day (FAO 2002, p.9). Only 2300 to 2400 calories a day are required to sustain an adult. (United Nations FAO says the average American consumes 3770 calories .) Questions: if everyone ate 2400 kcal or less, could the extra production be saved for the future? Also, if everyone ate 2720 kcal, how strong and fit could they be (bodybuilders would eat more, children would eat less, so 2720's an average).

I think prime agricultural land should not be given to tobacco farmers, or even wine grape growers, if people need rice or grain, for example. I believe in sobriety. And as much as we all seem to like beef, it's really not the most environmental or efficient alternative.

"The Kingdom"

It could also be a Queendom: God's Plan for Society

I, God, have my own idea for a healthy international system. Basically, no nations, no borders, no laws, everybody armed, and universal respect.

If this is impracticable, then a world where people choose freely which lands and legal systems they live under would be the next best thing, in my opinion. I think people really should sign social contracts, with the option of opting out at any time for another one.

For example, some might think the death penalty should be widespread and universal, enforced by international law for all crime. I would think crime would go down to zero, or close to it, under such a scenario. I imagine this would be too draconian for most, so only those choosing to live under it would segregate themselves into the geographical community for which it is in effect. Nations or neighborhoods could be defined this way. Heck, a neighborhood could be a nation. In other words, people should be able to decide which sets of laws they want to live under. Another example would be a territory without laws, with the exception of no weapons.

My idea includes weapons because people are different sizes, different skill levels, men and women (long hair is a disadvantage in fighting), and some people are disabled (in wheelchairs or whatever), for starters. Some people might not be talented martial artists, and weapons are "equalizers." (I should note that there are techniques to escape a hair grab).

There can be, on one extreme, zones of no law and absolute freedom, where anarchy rules, and everyone gets to enforce their own personal code of conduct, whether vengeance and retribution, or pardon, while on the other extreme, there could be a zone of a strictly regimented authoritarian state, where every member is a slave to an elected leader. Transfer between any states on the wide spectrum would be permitted, and perhaps the states with the most popular sets of laws would be given the most amount of livable land. People would get interested in law, and I suppose it’s possible a global legal system could emerge, although I would think it far more likely that thousands more than present would dot the landscape. My book, Dracula was a Lawyer, says "Every year, Americans are saddled with more than 150,000 new laws and 2 million regulations." Pretty crazy.

What about war? As for war, I believe everyone should agree to abstain from it. War, if permitted, would only be for those that want to participate, and then only if mutually agreed upon by both sides. I think this applies on a personal level, too. If people want to take the risk of getting killed, I don't see what's stopping them, though. Maybe the most popular legal systems could get the worst land, and the least popular get the best, to even the playing field. Just some thoughts.

Some thoughts on homicide
Homicide, I believe, CAN be reduced to zero, through massive state invasion of privacy, such as in the movie Minority Report. But perhaps such heavy-handedness is counterdestructive, in an overpopulated world that needs winnowing. I think with a global two child per family policy, we can lower to meet the challenges of the future, however.

Then again, maybe the earth can support many more, with people consuming less resources and finding happiness without having more than the Jones'. There is a vast potential for intelligent use of new technologies to create effective equality in health and happiness. I think there needs to be a consensus as to the true potential for supporting our current population, and higher, or if our globe needs less, and if so, by ballpark how many. The only moral way to reach a lower population is by attrition, so we would have to know how long it would take. Of course, as for death, we’re all just animals, and whether the culprit is a virus or another human, the difference can be seen as negligible.. However, I believe we should all fight viruses, and not encourage homicidal (in)humanity.

If the criminal is happy killing, and by thus killing, society is able to rid itself of the killer, then allowing murder performs a double duty. To the ecology of our planet, humanity is the virus. On the other hand, can all disease be eradicated? Is it even thinkable to destroy every pathogen on earth? I think not.

The bible is evil?
As the 10 commandments say thou shalt not kill, murder is seen as an act of evil, something madmen possessed by the devil, or evil men, might do. And yet crime can be seen as a kind of informal justice system (most often?). People who get murdered can be argued to have had it coming, oftentimes. Plus, the bible says no one is good but God. Everyone dies, and the wages of sin is death, the good book says. (Perhaps that doesn't mean every death is always the wages of sin. Logic can sometimes be a bit tricky. Everyone is sinful, in any case, it says). Vengeance is mine, sayeth the lord. Apparently, God kills everyone. And God is love. He’s a man of war. Father time, for most. Time kills all. But what about 'Only the good die young'? Thou shalt not kill, unless you're god, seems to be the message. I AM is his name. And who alive isn't? Perhaps there are no truly evil killings. Are all killings merciful? In Job 3:11-13, he regrets having been born, and being dead, he "would have been asleep," he "would have been at rest." If you want to justify murder, perhaps you need to see the future, and know the balance of enjoyment to misery in the entirety of their future life. If misery outweighs joy, then perhaps the proposed victim would be better off dead. Personally, I value life, even if miserable. Perhaps it shouldn't be 50-50, but rather each individual defining the threshold for themself. One person's hell is another's purgatory. Better sad than dead, in my opinion. Anyway, to live, you must kill. It's kill or be killed. Although the bible says Thou shalt not kill, one can't survive without killing. By this, I mean your white blood cells kill invading pathogens. Everyone kills mosquitoes, for example. A mosquito doesn't want to be swatted any more than I do. Killing should be legalized? Capital punishment is, already. I believe capital punishment to be immoral, however. Criminals are not mosquitoes. And mosquitoes are not criminals. Just wear bug spray. People are not pathogens. A law school instructor once told it's lawyers to "squash them like bugs." I disagree. Treat them like humans. And be nicer to the bugs.

Furthermore,
God is a man of war. A man of war is a soldier. Soldiers kill. Therefore, God loves who he kills. As he kills you, he kills himself, for you are he, and he is One. Orgasm is called the little death. He kills the cancers on his body. Anyone would do as much. If humanity needs less people, then the world (and it's leaders) must needs be turning a blind eye towards war and murder. I don't think this is right. You might think that perhaps what the world needs are some loving murderers. And the murderers themselves might get murdered, as he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword (the law of karma). Probably because once you start on the path of doling out justice, you’re bound to commit an injustice, and karma will bite back. Judge not, lest ye be judged. Nobody's perfect. I am not advocating murder. I want to live. I may be God, but I'm not perfect, either. Maybe karma isn't really a law, more like a tendency or a superstition, perhaps a self-fulfilling prophecy program. There's the bumper sticker, 'no justice, no peace.' There's also forgive and forget and turn the other cheek. The world just needs love. I think justice is best served by a non-homicidal reaction of lengthy or life imprisonment, either to punish or to remove from the general population/society. An incarcerated criminal may receive justice in a lenient or harsh form, even while serving the same amount of time. Justice is a subjective concept/reality. It can be an eye for an eye, or twenty years for an eye, or death for an eye, or being forgiven for an eye. A prisoner may be in a hole/isolation, or in a population, and if there, may be in a position of dominance or subjection. In any case, they can be either happy or miserable, depending on people, drugs/medication, food, or available activity(ies). It's a mess. I think even the most heinous criminals should be happy. Everyone dies, and each individual gets to choose whether it be in an exciting bloody way, going down swinging, or of wrinkly, decrepit, leachy old age and disease. Many think nothing really matters.

Obesity

Some Buddhas are fat, and some are skinny (some are just right). Stay strong!

1. BELLYFAT
I have bellyfat, and the news this morning says I'm in jeopardy of getting alzheimer's. I thought I would share the news, and start working harder on my own fitness/physique.

To read about the dementia likelihood for people with larger bellies than hips, go to:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/03/26/MNJSVQR4T.DTL

What to do?
Bellyfat in men: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/belly-fat/MC00054
Bellyfat in women: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/belly-fat/WO00128

By the way, there's no such thing as a belly fat diet. Contrary to what some diet books and articles preach, certain foods cannot magically melt away the fat off your belly (or any other part of your body). Where fat tends to settle is typically all in your genetics.

2. OBESITY, in general.
Currently, about 119 million, or 64.5%, of US adults are either overweight or obese. The prevalence in the United States continues to rise. New government figures show almost one in three American adults is obese. And an alarming number of kids, even toddlers, are overweight. (As for "packing too many pounds", I used to fill my backpack with too many books).

Morbid obesity, obesity, overweight, and normal range classifications are all calculated using the BMI (Body Mass Index). To do this, you plug weight and height into a formula. Weight (lbs) - (ht (in) x ht (in)) x 703=BMI. For me, it's (204 / 72x72) x 703, which is a BMI of 27.66.

Normal range is 18.5 to 24..9
Overweight range is 25 to 29.9
Obese range is 30 to 34.9
Morbidly obese range is 35+

Patients often naively believe themselves to have alot of muscle. For the m.o., you can disprove this by measuring fat with calipers and in submersion tanks, etc. Another indicator of unhealthy body weight is the waist-hip ratio. Divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement, and anything over 1.0 means you may be at risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc.

I'm smack in the center of the overweight category. And it's bellyfat. Not good, argh.

More than 25% of adults in China are now considered overweight or obese, according to new research. The findings, in the journal Health Affairs, blame declining physical activity and a more Western diet. Researchers say what is happening in China could be seen as a marker for what is going to happen in the rest of the developing world. There is a link, as in the U.S., between poverty and obesity. China's traditional balanced diet is increasingly giving way to one high in oil and meat. Even in the countryside, people are getting much less exercise. Agriculture is more mechanised, and cars, motorbikes and tractors are replacing bicycles. People are also watching much more television. Audio link.

Keeping a food diary -- a detailed account of what you eat and drink and the calories it packs -- is a powerful tool in helping people lose weight, U.S. researchers say. A study involving 1,685 middle-aged men and women over six months found those who kept such a diary just about every day lost about twice as much weight as those who did not.

4. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7481026.stm (it might not (all) be your fault..you are what your mother ate, too).

3. Even if you're NOT overweight, you still need to eat right and exercise:
A new study claims that normal-weight Americans are more likely than their overweight contemporaries to develop heart disease, diabetes and other health problems. Body fat has nothing to do with weight, but ruins your metabolic system. It was revealed that normal-weight people have higher percentages of body fat, thus posing a threat of different metabolic abnormalities. So fat people, take heart.

The study is based on data provided by U.S. government's Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The initial goal of the study was to discover risk factors of metabolic diseases. The majority of Survey participants showed a bit increased body fat levels, high cholesterol and leptin levels, and high rates of metabolic syndrome. Researchers warn that if your weight is normal for your size it doesn’t mean that your health is secure and requires no support in forms of exercises and healthful diets. These measures can help to reduce the level of fat – the main reason of many diseases.

4. If you are diagnosed with DIABETES or Pre-diabetes (METABOLIC SYNDROME):
(But everyone should Read)-
Also, contrary to popular understanding: A type of fat that accumulates around the hips and bottom may actually offer some protection against diabetes. Subcutaneous fat, or fat that collects under the skin, helps to improve sensitivity to the hormone insulin, which regulates blood sugar. Mice that got transplants of this type of fat lost weight and their fat cells shrank. Researchers have known for some time that fat that collects in your abdomen -- known as visceral fat -- can raise your risk of diabetes and heart disease. People with pear-shaped bodies are less prone to these disorders. It seems that their fat may be actively protecting them from metabolic disease. So big butts aren't necessarily bad...and I cannot lie.

"Two guidelines should be placed at the top of your list if you have been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome (pre-diabetes), namely: 1. Exercise, and 2. Avoid grains and sugars in your diet like the plague.

These two guidelines are so important, they will benefit absolutely anyone, regardless of whether you have pre-diabetes or not; whether you’re overweight or not. They are basic foundations of optimal health." (This sounds like you shouldn't eat bread. Wheat is a grain, no? I'm a bit confused. Is bread bad? Ask your doctor. This quoted doctor seems to think so).

In addition to those two fundamental basics, the following guidelines are vital components if you have metabolic syndrome or diabetes:
1.Avoid trans fats
2.Get plenty of omega-3 fats from krill oil or fish oil
3.Get enough quality sleep every night
4.Maintain a healthy body weight
5.Exercise Right for Optimal Benefits

These things probably wouldn't hurt, even if you don't have diabetes/pre-diabetes.

EXERCISE
One of the keys in using exercise to normalize your insulin and leptin levels, with the secondary benefits of weight loss and normalization of blood sugars, is to make certain minimum thresholds are met. It seems most people are not exercising enough. There are three important variables with exercise:
1.Length of time
2.Frequency
3.Intensity

Assuming you can exercise, I encourage you to gradually increase the amount of time you exercise to reach one hour per day. Initially the frequency is daily. This is your treatment dose until you normalize your weight or insulin levels. Once normalized, you only need to exercise three to four times per week.

Exercise hard enough so that it is very difficult to talk to someone next to you. When you are exercising that hard your cardiovascular system is under such a significant stress that the mere act of talking makes you unable to provide your body with enough oxygen because of the diversion of airflow.

If you cannot carry on a conversation at all, then you have gone too far and need to decrease the intensity slightly. However, most people don’t exercise at the appropriate intensity and as a result aren’t able to obtain the benefits.

Self-Defense

There are bad people out there

Okay, so maybe Jesuits see God in all things, and God is good, so everything's good, and the bible is interpreted to mean everything further's God's purposes, including evil, but that doesn't mean we're supposed to lie down and take it, or follow Jesus' example, and get crucified or whatever for our original sin, and make criminals happy. God is a man of war, and if you want to be godly, you should know how to fight. I may be a pacifist, but I believe everyone should be capable of self-defense against any would-be aggressors.

Guns
I actually believe everyone should be armed, which would prevent criminals from having any advantage in a society that could easily potentially retaliate. I would limit armaments to handguns and not assault weapons, however, to emphasize the defensive aspect of all this. We call our military the Department of Defense, not Offense. I think society should be trained in the safe use of weapons, and there should be a prevalence of shooting ranges, for people to learn cleaning and safety and to hone their ability. Children should be inculcated with a respect for guns, and given a knowledge of gun safety and basics at a young age. I think gun-locks, such as the ring that only allows the owner to use his or her gun, should be used.
http://www.dtic.mil/ndia/2002infantry/small2.pdf

Martial Arts
People shouldn't feel empowered only through the potential for lethality, however. Arms don't only refer to guns, they refer to the things our hands are attached to. I believe everyone should be "armed" and dangerous. People should be as best prepared for any potential situation that they can be. The Boy Scout motto is "Be Prepared." I took classes in Aikido and Jujitsu, and learned just a little wrestling in high school. I'm on my God kick, but if you want to feel powerful, I recommend getting in shape as you learn how to defend yourself if you should ever find yourself in combat. The ultimate goal is never to put yourself in a dangerous situation, especially mortal combat, but eventualities can arise. Unfortunately, the world can be an uncertain place. You are not necessarily in control, all the time. You can't spend your life hiding under a rock. There are rapists and abductors and muggers and the occasional psycho/ serial killer. Martial arts prepare you to deal with these kinds of possibilities as best you can.

It can be a lifestyle, and a philosophy, as well. It's a way of healthy living, requiring you to keep fit, physically, while keeping mentally awake, and hopefully morally straight. It develops your kinesthetic, tactile and spatial abilities and intelligence. Fractions of seconds count in combat, and life itself, so martial arts hone your ability to anticipate, be aware, live in the moment, think and act quickly, and resolve situations clearly and in control. It develops tactical and safety awareness, as well as provides knowledge of the body. Even if you never have to use your knowledge, as personally I would hope you should, it pays to know self-defense.

Mountain Air

God has peace of mind (not piece of)

I went for my morning constitutional, just got back, and it was glorious, aside from the mental illness difficulties (I usually have), such as the voice, head shocks, and occasional chest pain.

To recap: 1)chirping, twittering, flapping, fluttering, calling, clamoring birds out and about, flying and fussing with their morning activities. gliding and swooping. 2) cool mountain air to fill the lungs with a sense of clean and fresh. 3)the scent of bay (leaves), which I have always loved. 4)the smell of the earth 5)the give of the soil. 6)the crunch of gravel underfoot. 7) the payoff of vitality that an unstressful, yet not too leisurely pace, walk up the mountain provides. 8) the feel of sunlight on skin. 9) the stimulation of an internal dialog, uninterrupted, with the ability to talk to myself/whoever without appearing crazy. 10) the pairing of sense of place with a meta-awareness of the flow of my thoughts, and seeing how they fit.

My mind goes in unexpected directions, as I see a pine cone and think coney island, new york, hot dogs and york peppermint patties, and from pat to Path, (http://www.path.org/) (Program for Appropriate Technology in Health), the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, Patrick Hennessy, and drdpat (the elements of a hiking plan: destination, route, dates and times, permission granted, activities along the way, and transportation), which sounds a bit like dirt path. That was something I taught cubscouts way back in the day, as a teenager. Also, I think of needles and what my nurse calls a "drill bit" and puncture points of pain, in addition to heroin. There are yellow reflectors, a yellow car, and a yellow line on the road. I thought of yelling ow, in the context of a young virgo virgin girl, whose hymen had broken, according to some string of associations I forget now. I thought of hymen as "hi men" and young saplings and goodly tall trees. I'm sure it's all relevant to someone. Regarding number 10, I smelled a fireplace as I walked by a house, and I thought to myself the Pink Floyd song, 'Breathe in the air, don't be afraid to care, and when at last you're home and tired, it's good to rest your bones beside the fire'...and then I was next to an (empty) firewood shed. Maybe I'm somehow (organically, or programmed to be) programming space itself for the shed owner to purchase for themselves some firewood? It's all very interesting. Or boring, I choose interesting.

Today I talked to myself with a British accent. It was fun, although I felt like I was being judged by the Brits, or somehow disapproved of, in the flow of thoughts, whether it be timing, diction, or whatever. I have fun, even while feeling simultaneously oppressed, monitored, and unfree.

To explain, I always feel like there's someone in my head. I claim sovereignty over my own mind, jurisdiction over my own body, and as landlord over my brain, expel any and all unwanted tenants, if you want to get all crazy legalistic. There is definitely a criminal element out there, to my view, even if they are technically legally permitted to enter my headspace and poke around in there. But basically, I think none of us really has privacy, even though we supposedly have a right to it. I really don't give a damn what purpose the intruder(s) might have, even if it makes a "better" world, or even a world I want. It makes my world worse, and that's not a price I'm willing to accept. Call me selfish. I really don't care if you think of this reality as "holy spirit" or even "God." Stay the fuck out.

Social Problems

God is a problem-solver

I've mentioned the Iraq war, global inequality, unhappiness, incarceration, and mental illness, like schizophrenia and depression. I've provided links to religions, and thus all the solutions that organized religion can provide, such as community or negating suffering or a sense of purpose/meaning or "enlightenment." I've also provided a link to a free book online, Plan B 3.0 , that outlines how to save civilization for only 190 billion dollars. I could go into each one of these subjects in much greater depth. And the library, the magazines, the daily paper, the internet, and daily living is filled to the brim with problems of every imaginable sort, and solutions, both those already proven effective and proposed. Creativity is always important to solving any kind of problem.

As God, I have answers.

The "final solution" was not what I had in mind. Law, in fact, is not what I have in mind, either. Basic human decency and love is all that I require. This entails everyone making a goodfaith effort to help each other out, to the best of our ability. Everyone living a healthy, happy, comfortable life is indeed eminently possible, as a cooperative human ideal/objective, contrary to the prevalent ethic of everyone for themselves, supporting only themselves or their families, through social structures such as corporations, which are mostly sociopathic. People do good things, but many could be doing things that are a lot better. People, of course, need to begin by loving themselves. I do not subscribe to the notion of original sin. In fact, I do not subscribe to the notion of sin at all. I do not have a law that you must obey or you will go to hell. I have what is called a preference. My preference is happiness. I will be the most happy when the world is the most happy.

My high school's motto (an all boy's school at the time) was "Be a man for others." Service is the solution. Service has 'vice' in it, and 'solution' is also a chemistry term.

But I am not talking about "vice" such as perhaps poisonous liquid "solutions," although it's possible you're a sociopath and have a grudge and offing someone would make you happy. You may even think killing people would be a service, especially in light of overpopulation statistics, or a philosophy that says everyone dies eventually, miserable people would be better off, maybe even in Paradise, the value of their body parts would create more happiness, and heinous criminals deserve to die. There are suicidal people, too, who want to die. You may think everyone IS a killer, and is selfish, and wants to "make a killing." You may not care if you die yourself, and want to go out with a bang, enacting revenge, or fighting for a cause. You may conceive of yourself as the Angel of Death, serving God. You may think you're killing the devil, even.

None of this washes, though. God may be a "man of war" (and I am), but I am actually a pacifist. I fight for peace. I am pro-life, and I subscribe to a universal Consistent Life Ethic. I am not vegetarian, however. Dirt becomes plants becomes animals becomes us becomes dirt, again. I do believe, however, we must strive to minimize pain and suffering, both human and animal. I fight for life, and happy life at that. Unfortunately, I can't make people eschew evil. I define evil as contrary to life and happiness. What to do about the near-ubiquitous vampire mentality, that thinks other's unhappiness, suffering, and death translates to one's own vitality and pleasure? Well, human nature can go either way. I don't think we're born one way or the other. There are dark wizards and white wizards, and this has nothing to do with race. It has to do with parenting, schooling, and conditioning, mostly in childhood. People can change at any age, of course. So fight for what you believe in, and make a better world. Not with fisticuffs or guns, but with ideas, persuasion, example. The strongest soldier is the one that doesn't fight. Make a better world. This is my command.

Ambiguity and uncertainty is a problem. Inquiring minds need to know. Ignorance, of any particular relevant (or irrelevant) question you may have, can be a problem. We say let go and let god, submit, god is all-knowing, and to pray for solutions, which may come if god wishes them for us. Well, I have news for you. Most of the answers are already out there. The rest is up to you. When you don't know, or can't find, the answer(s), then seek help from another/others, whether that be from people or god/God(s), however you define them. An "authority" on the issue might not be who you think it is, and the answer may come from an unexpected place. There are social answers to social problems. Gather information and reflect.

I just discovered Tuvan throat singing. It and 'Beyond the call', an independent movie with the ethic I endorse/prefer, are on u-tube. Good stuff!

Bliss, Nirvana, Happiness, Joy

God is a Happiness Psychologist

Happiness can be a lot of things. It might have nothing to do with "things."

First of all, as the Buddhists say, happiness is the absence of suffering.

Secondly, I say, happiness is a state of contentment and satisfaction, such as reading a good book, or (for me) watching an interesting documentary, or listening to good music, or eating a good meal, or making someone else happier, or simply quieting your mind, such as sitting in the sun or meditating. I like the birds in the morning, here. A feeling of well-being. Chew on this: meditate on the difference between contentment, satisfaction, and well-being.

Thirdly, I say, happiness is a state of arousal, whether laughter or sexual or a rollercoaster or mountain climbing or getting juiced from exercise, feeling good from endorphins. It usually involves other people. I watched this incredible video on mountain climbing once, from the library. And Surfers seem to be a really happy bunch. A daily walk helps, for me. It's good to sweat.

People who volunteer to make their community better have a higher sense of self-worth, I've been told. Then again, I've also been told that people with pets are happier, on average, which isn't true. Try it for yourself, and see. Just as classes enjoyability largely depends on the teacher (often more than the subject), finding the right people/volunteer opportunity might make all the difference.

People who give money to charity, even if only a little, reap a high reward in happiness.
Read: http://health.yahoo.com/news/healthday/giveandbehappy.html
and: http://pewresearch.org/pubs/301/are-we-happy-yet
Keeping a journal is usually good, it seems. Make a list of what makes you happy!

On Work
People who enjoy their jobs, of course, generally make more money. You have to do what you love. Why have money if making it makes you miserable. Money is supposed to be for happiness, in my opinion. You only live once. Money should be for happiness, from happiness. Your life should be happy.

I find it telling that people are happier not necessarily if they a have more money, but if they have more money THAN OTHERS. That seems sick, in my opinion. Maybe we're all a bunch of vampires. Subconscious sadists who thrive on each other's (relative) misery. Maybe that's why giving money to the less well off makes us feel good (because it makes us feel more successful, superior, dominant, more so than joy in alleviating another's misfortune). Just a thought. Try moving to a poor country, maybe?

Did you know, surprisingly, that beautiful people are not, on average, happier? Or that couples with and without children rank the same (on average). Or that tv doesn't make people happier?
1.http://harvardmagazine.com/2007/01/the-science-of-happiness.html
2.http://www.authentichappiness.sas.upenn.edu/images/TimeMagazine/Time-Happiness.pdf

There's one thing I need to say. What's with the terms 'positive' and 'negative'? Batteries have positives and negatives, like ions, but what the heck does that have to do with happiness? And why is light good but dark bad? Or rainy weather bad but sunny weather good? This is just mind control, in my opinion. If you want to be happy, make it all good.

Regarding tv, though, for me I find that muting the commercials helps with being able to think, which is something that makes me happy. They say thinking less can be a positive, too. Also, I like to talk to whoever's at the tv with me. Commercials, as you probably know, are designed to arrest your attention. Does anyone know if there is a product that automatically mutes commercials?

Studies indicate commuters are generally unhappy. This doesn't make sense to me. As for road rage at traffic infractions, just forgive and forget, I would say. I mean really, who cares. Getting angry probably won't do anything to change their behavior. If you get angry at them, they might even feel justified at the infraction, anyway. Remember, the other driver can't hear you. You can get cd's at the library, and listen to more music than you ever realized existed. You can get books on tape. You can have satellite radio. You can play games with license plates, such as creating meaning from the letters and numbers. You can guess who's driving which cars. You can smile at people. You can put on enjoyable bumper stickers or decorations.

As for busses and trams, I don't understand the deafening silence. I think people should be friendly and maybe introduce themselves and make small talk with strangers, and even lie to have a little fun, practice acting or what not, if that is their wont.

If that doesn't work, and you want to turn to the dark side, you can buy Spite, Malice, and Revenge, by M. Nelson Chunder and George Hayduke (the complete guide to getting even). I've never acted on any of the book's recommendations, but it was a fun read.

The Beatles sang Happiness is a warm gun, but the prospect of prison rape or getting shiv'd probably should seriously negate entertaining that idea for very long. The state should not endorse terrorism in it's prisons, though. They should be safe, and even enjoyable, in the sense of educating prisoners with good books, and having programs where they can help society, such as reading books on to tape, or even doing science. There's more than enough work in the world that we could give prisoners to do, that would make them feel productive, useful, good, and give them training for when they get out.

The same goes for drugs. Happiness can definitely be any one or combination of drugs. Food is a drug, you know, so do food. I take food. Prescription drugs and pharmaceuticals and over the counter (otc) medications and illegal narcotics and unhealthy legal drugs like nicotine or abuse of alcohol are immensely big problems. I believe in sobriety. Some people can self-medicate. Many others fail. I recommend the advice of a doctor, if you feel the need to do any kind of drug. Be careful. Be safe. Be healthy. Don't get addicted. Be sure and know what you're doing. Pot can cause/be a factor in schizophrenia, for the genetically predisposed.

Speaking of terrorism, isn't terror a matter of the victim's psychology, not the perpetrators? I thought we aspired to be a nation of phobophobics: "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." If we wouldn't be afraid of death, there would not be any "terrorists". They're just mass murderers, or criminals, and should be treated as such. The term itself seems to be trying to make us afraid of them. In my opinion, suicide bombers are a police problem, not a military problem, and if we would all just respect each other as human beings rather than us-them categories of nationality, religion, race, or whatever, then we'd be okay.

It is argued that what a person says about their own happiness tends to tally with what friends or even strangers might say about them if asked the same question. Happiness seems to have almost magical properties. We have not got proof, but the science suggests it leads to long life, health, resilience and good performance. At the moment scientists cannot prove causation, whether for example people are healthy because they are happy, or whether people are happy because they are healthy. Happy people live longer than depressed people, and one study put the difference at 9 years. It is even suggested that friendship can ward off germs. Our brains control many of the mechanisms in our bodies which are responsible for disease.

Just as stress can trigger ill health, it is thought that friendship and happiness can have a protective effect. The effect of marriage adds an average seven years to the life of a man and something like four for a woman. The wider and deeper your relationships are with those around you, the happier you'll be, it says. Churchgoers are, on average, happier.

That's interesting, because I'm pretty much alone all the time. But I believe I'm in all of your heads already, as the collective unconscious or whatever you want to call it, maybe as a global telepath, which is a pretty deep thought, I admit. Plus, I have dogs and nature and meds, so I'm okay, fairly happy.

If you're born grumpy, are you always going to be grumpy? The best you can do with positive emotion is you can get people to live at the top of their set range. "So I think you've got about 10 to 15% leverage but you can't take a grouch and make him giggle all the time" says positive psychologist Martin Seligman. I actually bet you can, if you're a really talented psychologist. Especially if he or she's got an erogenous or tickle zone.

Regarding contentment, satisfaction, and well-being (or CSW, I'll call it), I found 5 other good csw's: Clinical social worker, commercial sex worker, certified specialist in wine, coordinate seeking weapon, combat submission wrestling. Ponder this, young paduwan grasshopper.

Incarceration

God is a criminal
(God created time, and time kills people)

Incarceration means being locked up, either in jail or prison. It is a lack of freedom, and sequestration from society, as punishment for criminal behavior with the goal of hopefully making people who go there to never want to come back, and thus refrain from future criminality. That is how I see it.

legal definitions
PRISON - A correctional, detention, or penal facility. 18 USC A legal prison is the building designated by law, or used by the sheriff, for the confinement, or detention of those whose persons are judicially ordered to be kept in custody. But in cases of necessity, the sheriff may make his own house, or any other place, a prison. 2. An illegal prison is one not authorized by law, but established by private authority; when the confinement is illegal, every place where the party is arrested is a prison; as, the street, if he be detained in passing along.

This is the definition used in the words "imprisonment" and "prisoner", and can refer to jail or prison, I suppose. I don't actually know. Aren't police departments and sheriff departments different? Police can obviously imprison, as well.

JAIL -Jails are places that confine persons accused of crimes and awaiting trial or convicted of a crime. Jails exist on the local and county levels.

PRISON-Prisons exist at the state and federal levels. The Federal Bureau of Prisons aims to ensure the physical safety of all inmates through a controlled environment which meets each inmate’s need for security through the elimination of violence, predatory behavior, gang activity, drug use, and inmate weapons. Through the provision of health care, mental, spiritual, educational, vocational and work programs, inmates are prepared for a productive and crime free return to society. Inmates are classified into these different facilities based on the inmate's needs and the custody (security risk) of the inmate.

It took me 6 links under "legal definitions" to get this. The first 5 did not even have jail or prison listed! And these aren't even official definitions. You would think the legal world would get it's shit together.

So who goes to local, county, state, and federal jurisdictions, and why? Are there 4 (overlapping) sets of laws, in addition to civil and criminal, for a total of 8? Should I, as God, write one law for everybody?

Anyway, More than 5.6 million Americans are in prison (?) or have served time there, or 1:37 adults, says the Christian Science Monitor in a 2003 article. During his or her lifetime, blacks have a 1:3 chance of going to prison, hispanics 1:6, whites 1:17. 1:3 incarcerated women are there for drug offences. By 2010, 7.7 million Americans are expected to either be or have been in prison, or 3.4% of the U.S.

http://www.truthdig.com/eartotheground/item/20080228_us_adult_incarceration_rate_highest_ever/CP2/ says 1:100 (adult population) or 1:130 (total population, including children) Americans are incarcerated. The author seems to think the "war on crime" is a bad thing, or that increased incarceration rates should reflect increased crime, rather than an increased percentage of criminals, which I think is ridiculous. Then again, I have an anarchist streak, and maybe there shouldn't be any prisons. (But that itself would be a law. The status quo has arisen from anarchy. Creating a law is a fascist act. You know, for all the historical high-sounding political rhetoric, I never did sign any social contract).

Immigrants in California are far less likely to land in prison than their U.S.-born counterparts, a finding that defies the perception that immigration and crime are connected, according to a study released recently. Foreign-born residents make up 35 percent of the state's overall population, but only 17 percent of the adult prison population, according to the Public Policy Institute of California, which conducted the research. This doesn't surprise me. America is a harsh place, in my view, with skewed priorities, and obsessed with crime and celebrity and Jesus, and I generally like the Mexicans I meet, in the mexican taqueria markets (yum), such as the hardworking farmworkers in cowboy hats. My spanish isn't up to snuff.

In a recent New York Times article, it says:
Nationwide, the prison population grew by 25,000 last year, bringing it to almost 1.6 million. Another 723,000 people are in local jails. The number of American adults is about 230 million, meaning that one in every 99.1 adults is behind bars, the highest percentage in our nation's history, in a nation that has the highest incarceration rate in the world.

The costs are interesting. On average, states spend 7% of their budgets on incarceration. It cost an average of $23,876 dollars to imprison someone in 2005, the most recent year for which data were available. But state spending varies widely, from $45,000 a year in Rhode Island to $13,000 in Louisiana.

So 23,876x25,000 is a guesstimate at increased costs (for one year). Rhode Island appears to be the place to be incarcerated, if you're shopping for a place to commit a crime. $46,000 is the 2007 PPP (purchasing power parity) U.S. GDP per capita, which is only 1k more.

To read the article, go to: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/28/us/28cnd-prison.html

In the past 20 years, according the Federal Bureau of Investigation, violent crime rates fell by 25 percent, to 464 for every 100,000 people in 2007 from 612.5 in 1987.

Has the cost per prisoner (jail and prison) gone up or down, since 2005? I would guess up, because of mental health needs. Does prison work? What is the recidivism rate? 52% of released prisoners are re-incarcerated (95% of prisoners are released).

About recidivism: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0933722.html

More than half of prisoners are estimated to have mental health issues, and only a third of those are getting treatment. This means at least one third of prisoners have mental health issues that are not being addressed. My needs are being met for 60 dollars a day, which is about 2000 dollars less than the cost of incarceration (2005). Remember, half the world lives on around a buck a day.

About mental health in prison: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/06/AR2006090601629.html

I think prisons should be places of scholarship and literary activity. It's the best way for them to escape their world, and maybe productively enter ours. Library resources should be extensive, in my opinion, maybe with a digital device that has access to the library of congress, or what have you. But that's just me. I like to read. Maybe there could be a system of prison libraries, that mail approved books out by request.

My religious background

I AM now, though

I was born after the summer of Love, to a happy hippy. She reads about nature and various religous literature. She talks to her friends in her head, as a well-adjusted schizophrenic. (Her friends are mostly schizophrenic). You might want to call it telepathy, instead. Annette named me Jesse.

I was adopted at age 4 by the Tesharas, Peggy and Larry, a school administrator and a social worker. Heaven is a kind of library, and service to others is God's work. Teshara anagrams to 'as earth.'

My mom's sister is a Catholic nun (Dominican), and my mom goes to Mass every day, if she can. My dad became Catholic when I was young. His mom was into seances and Christian science, and his dad was a boxer and milkman. I think of God as a man of war, with the fighting spirit. As for milkmen, that's why I made the musical impulse purchase of The Dead Milkmen, whose album, Soul Rotation, especially, totally rocks, in my opinion. They also sing I Dream of Jesus (on Not Richard, but Dick), I am the Walrus, Jellyfish Heaven, I Hate You I Love You, Methodist Coloring Book, Now Everybody's Me, and God's Kid Brother.

I am not Methodist, but I do have a Godfather named Richard/Dick, and a kid brother. There was some story about Jellyfish gathering off or in the SF Bay awhile back, like they were having a pow-wow or something.

I went to St. Stephen's (the first martyr, stoned) grammar school and St. Ignatius (founder of the jesuits, a soldier) College Preparatory, both in San Francisco (St. Francis, communer with nature). I was an altar boy, and considered becoming a priest in high school. I went to Mass with my family every Sunday obligatorily, and was a sometime attender of the Newman (a Catholic cardinal, an ex-Anglican priest who had believed the Pope to be the Antichrist) Center in college. I took a theology class freshman year, where I wrote a Credo (3 parts: On God, Morality, and Human Nature) as a (newly self-described) agnostic, which can be defined as alternatively a) there is no way of knowing if God exists, or b)there is 50-50 evidence for God's existence. In college, I went to the round table introductions of the various religous perspectives, which I highly enjoyed. I also took a class in Anthropology of Religion.

I read the book, Native American spirituality, by chief Eagle Feather or something (he's a lawyer, I know that), a Lakota Sioux, and identified strongly with it, as a lover of Nature, who identifies more strongly with the "divine" away from the city. To this day, though, I have never taken part in any Native American rituals, which I would sometime like to do.

I have read much of the bible, if not all of it (I'm not sure if I have or not); that is to say, I think I have. In any case, I don't remember it all. I also attended a few Buddhist prayer meetings. I both respect that their path to happiness can work, and resent that I should have to take any path at all, besides "my own."

This blog is the current chapter in my spiritual evolution. I'm on a "God kick" as they say.

By the way, mr. Adi Da, I'm an Aith level adept, lol.

You Are What You Eat

If I'm God, and you want to be God or Godly or have God in you...

Then, as you are what you eat, it follows you would want to eat me. I do not really want cannibals showing up at my door, however, so let me cut out the middleman, and tell you what I eat. Of course, if everyone is God already, including plants and non-human animals, then eat whatever you want. God is pro-life, so eat healthy.

If you are what you eat, you could also say that you eat yourself. That's a little crazy, I admit. You could take a picture of your groceries, and then you, for a new take on the dietary "before and after" pictures.

I am not a vegetarian. I enjoy meat. Perhaps it would be healthier for me to not eat it (or as much), but I eat what my household buys. If I only ate vegetables, would that make me a vegetable? Just kidding. Am I dead meat? Someday I will be. And then I, in turn, will be eaten. The many flies I have killed over my lifetime will get their revenge, and their kind will eat (as maggots) my rotting corpse. That's a pretty common fate, and not such a bad one. Then I'll be able to fly, as I so often dream of doing. I'll become thousands of little angels, lol.

But if you must eat me as a kind of Eucharist, I recommend: something sweet (fruit or candy or honey), if you think I am. If you're gay, eat a fruit. If you think too much, eat a vegetable. If you need love, eat chocolate or peas (I do). I make a mean pizza. Don't make bread me, though. That's been taken, whiz. I actually like ranch dressing on my corndogs.

Just make it good. I don't want to taste like crap. Unless you're a fly.

Saviour

SAVE CIVILIZATION:http://www.earthpolicy.org/
Read Plan B 3.0 online.

Ted Turner has distributed some 3,600 copies of Plan B 3.0 (by Lester R. Brown) to heads of state, cabinet members, Fortune 500 CEOs, the U.S. Congress, and the world’s 672 other billionaires, in his bid to play the epic role we all play already. For good or evil. Choose good! Apathy is unacceptable.

Get this (from chapter 7):Here's something from a 2001 WHO study analyzing the economics of health care in developing countries. It concluded that providing the most basic health care services, the sort that could be supplied by a village-level clinic, would yield enormous economic benefits for developing countries and for the world as a whole. The authors estimate that providing basic universal health care in developing countries will require donor grants totaling $27 billion in 2007, scaled up to $38 billion in 2015, or an average of $33 billion per year. In addition to basic services, this $33 billion includes funding for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and for universal childhood vaccinations.

Compare that (the entire planet having basic health care!) with the trillions our government has spent on the Iraq war. We are a sick, sick people. Let's heal ourselves.

The world as a whole has something like 48.2 Trillion dollars, total.

Lester says his plan to save humanity will only cost around $190 billion. If the U.S. were to pay, by shifting resources from the $492 billion spent on the military, it still would be spending more for military purposes than all other NATO members plus Russia and China combined.

About apathy, though. I don't think people who don't care about themselves or others or who wins should vote. And I don't think everybody should be an activist. Be happy, and spread the gospel of happiness. Activists can be miserable. Don't give in without a fight. In fact, don't ever give in. Be an obstinate s.o.b. Keep pushing that rock, Sisyphus. Maybe one day it will roll down the other side of the hill, and when you're over the hill, you can look back with pride. You can be king of the hill, king of the jungle, the lion with his pride, the king of beasts.

Interestingly, throughout medieval Europe, it was official Catholic dogma that diseases were the wrath of god. This was before the germ theory of disease became the foundation of western medicine. Back in the day, then, God was a germ, it seems.

I always did enjoy English more than beakers and bunson burners. Nice alliteration, eh? I remember reading about a genius chemist who was arrested. Perhaps the best chemists are the criminal ones. I learned people are afraid of "chemicals", when they should be aware that absolutely everything is made up of them, including themselves. One thing I never understood though, is we are "carbon-based life forms" and the black stuff on burnt food is carbon- are we talking about the same thing? The burnt parts aren't even good for you.. Was Mendel a Md scientist?

Religious Geography (in Ca)

Well, let's see:

There's Diablo, Ca (devil, in spanish)

There's Paradise (near Chico), City of Angels (Los Angeles), St. Francis (San Francisco), Sacrament (Sacramento), Angels Camp, Pope Valley, Bishop, Cathedral City.

Elsewhere
There's a Paradise in Nevada and Canada, too. There's no Heaven, but there is a Heavener, U.S.A. There's a Jesus, Peru. There's an Allah Dad, Pakistan. There are places called Loving, Lovelock, and Loveland in the U.S. There is a God Dere, Ethiopia. A One Tree, Australia.

There's a Satna, India and a Devli, India. A Dragon's Mouths, Venezuela. And a Hell, Norway. There's a Lucie, Suriname. A Kinki, Japan. A Messe, Austria. (Cleanliness is next to Godliness).

I used to have family that lived in Paradise. Now they're in hell. Hell is just another word for sheol, which means pit. Hell is nothing to fear. It may even be something to look forward to.

Christopher Hitchens is Great

Ouch, that hurts, Chris

This ought to throw the Author of 'god is not great' for a loop.

God, in reply, does not say "Christopher Hitchens is not great." Rather, I say well done.
'I shall prove to be' is what the JW's think my name is. You see, God is an atheist, too. I don't really believe in myself, at least not with the powers and abilities everyone says I have.

Geographical Symbolism: States

Noah's Arkansas

U.S. States: Californication is just the beginning-
I have to Washington my clothes. If this makes any sense, maybe you're Ohio on pot. Alaska the boss if that's okay. Bill Clinton's a southern baptist, he knows about Noah's Arkansas. Don't Colorado outside the lines. Are you Delaware of the consequences? Senator, you have the Florida. Beware the Idaho of March. I need a doctor, I'm Illinois. I've got Tennessee elbow. We got fired because the boss Kansas. Does your mom Kentucky you into bed at night? It's the Maine reason I'm here. It's a happy territory, that Mary-land. MassAhCHOOsetts! God bless you! I'll just drink a Mississippi of my Minnesota. This cut hurts, I'm in Missouri. I hate this old shirt, I'm getting a New Jersey. See you tomorrow, I'm going OklaHoma. You can use your fists Oregon. Shut up, Utah too much.

As for Ark (a shortened form of Arkansas), the biblical story (in Genesis) says God promised to never again destroy all living things on earth (in this manner). In order to remember this promise, God put a rainbow in the clouds, saying, "Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth".

The seas may rise by (worst case scenario) 44 feet, as they did 14,000 years ago.

Noah's ark is said to have landed on Mt. Ararat. Teshara ends in -ara and anagrams to 'he's a rat.' I sold a calculator to a kid named Noah at Walgreens.

"Conception Day"

The day I may have been conceived:

1970, from Wikipedia:
a).December 3 - October Crisis: In Montreal, Quebec, kidnapped British Trade Commissioner James Cross is released by the Front de Libération du Québec terrorist group after being held hostage for 60 days. Police negotiate his release and in return the Government of Canada grants 5 terrorists from the FLQ's Chenier Cell their request for safe passage to Cuba.
b)December 3 - Burgos Trial: In Burgos, Spain, a trial begins of 16 Basques terrorism suspects.

That's kind of a trip. No one ever looks up the history of their conception day.

There have been 10 leap years since I was born, with 119 days in my birth year, 78 days of this year (excluding leapday), and 36 years in between ('72-'07), for a total of my having been on this earth for 13,347 days. That's 36 yrs, and 197/207 days. Throw in the 277 days, more or less, of happy incubation womb time, and I've been around for 13,624 days today. That's kind of fun to know/figure out.

Weird neologism of the day: is the opposite of a matrix a patrix?

Taking the stand

The Whole Truth.

Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?

I have two problems with this: Truth and God.
1. Just about any assertion you can make is a lie. A lie of omission. This is because the "whole truth" includes everything. Therefore, if ever asked to take the stand, I must remain respectfully silent. I do not have a TOE, and if I did, I would still not have a COE (certainty of everything).

This brings up a philosophical question: Is the whole truth required to know A truth? Because I don't know everything, do I know nothing? And therefore, because nobody knows everything, nobody knows anything? It has been said, "I think, therefore I am." I have been told this and I don't necessarily see the truth in this statement, so I say "I think, therefore I am, I think."
I do not know the truth. I also do not know that I do not know the truth.

Okay, sorry about that. Back to the swearing in (shit!)
2. As for God, is that a god with a capital or lower case g? Is it a single god or can it be part of a pantheon? Whose god? Which religion? Which god? Do I have to choose? Do I have to state? Can it be me? For a satanist, can he therefore lie? Seriously. lol.

Perhaps it is against my religious beliefs to entreat God's help. Is there an implied support of religion or God?

God is love, and love believes all things.

Geographical Symbolisms: Countries

Everything is something else.
(God is love)

Food: Are you Hungary? Have a Bolivia of Syria for breakfast with a Cuba sugar, or Cook (islands) Turkey for dinner. There's Greece-y Iraq of lamb to Phillipines your Belize to Bulgaria with. Would you like a Liberia with that? Maybe Togo? For dessert, there's Camaroons and other Swedens. For bacon, use the Tonga when you turn the Bahamas in the pans (Japan and Panama).

Medical: You are in good hands. You are in suit and Thailand. Kenya sit over here? You are experiencing highs and lows of your bi-poland disorder. U.S.A. some Lithuania to moderate your Romania, Tanzania, and New Zealand. If you experience any Spain, and the Herzegovina is unbearable, Tunisia exercise. Maybe go to the gym and do some Latvias. The witch doctor can give you a Brunei for your Indonesia. Iran some tests. Oman.. You could be seriously at Finland. (Norway! Italy!) If you feel on the edge of Netherlands, and think Germany is responsible, get some Zaire and breathe in the Ethiopia. You will feel a Russia of vitality, and your Cambodia will feel like new. Don't forget to come in for your Pap..ua New Guinea next year.

First Names: You may think I'm joking but We..stern Sahara. There's a Sara (Burkina Faso, Niger, and Phillipines) and a Brown (Canada), her Suriname. There's Joe, Montana. Okay, I'll stick to countries. Fuel Efficiency

Gotta have F.E.

Here's an excerpt on potential and possibility vs. dismal reality:

In the recent vehicle efficiency contest put on by Shell oil company, as part of the long-standing tradition of oil companies blaming car companies for the excesses of the fossil fuel economy while car companies just as joyfully blame oil companies, "The team from the French technical school St. Joseph La Joliverie went 7,148 miles on a single gallon of fuel. The Shell website is quick to point out that that's "almost ten miles per teaspoon." Maybe the body isn't the most efficient vehicle after all.

In any case... it gives you a sense for just how much power is contained in a gallon of gasoline. It's too bad we've been pretty much pouring it down the drain for the last few decades."

And so many of us have to drive big and bad vehicles to dominate the road and seem all manly and tough and strong, while usually towing or hauling pretty much nothing. Real men drive geo's.

If we're going to spend over a trillion dollars and make more enemies, personal and national, than we had before, and kill and maim and scar our soldiers and (basically non-threatening) enemy combatants, as well as the many more Iraqi civilians, for gasoline, while decreasing our ability to solve problems at home and in other spots in the world, whether military problems or not, we should at least get our poop together and figure out how to conserve energy, and not just as a possibility, but in reality, now. That is, as soon as possible.

When it comes to the fuel economy, as regards oil companies and car companies, Why can't we all get along? Maybe it's time for government action. Seriously.

With increasing computer capacity, couldn't we all have cheaply built, highly fuel-efficient cars that drive themselves safely and solve traffic problems, to boot. Isn't that the future?

By the way, I say enemy combatants are basically non-threatening, in that they most likely can't enter the United States and hurt us. The U.S. has it's own war-zones, in the crime ridden neigborhoods..

On God in the Bible

God, in brief.
God, in briefs? I wear boxers.

What does the bible say about God?
God is YHWH, I am who am, or, in the JW (Jehovah's Witnesses, who came by today) bible, Jehovah, something like 'he who will prove himself to be'. It says, tell 'em "I AM" sent ya. It says God is One, love, and a man of war.

Let's look at each of these four identities of God:
1) I AM
To me, this just means that God is reality, nature, existence, the Universe, everything, all. God didn't create the universe, he IS the universe. But if you go back to before the big bang, then you can also say God is that, too. His name is I AM, and he just is. He is because he is defined as being. You can't argue with that. Atheism is negated, by definition. I think, therefore I am. I am, therefore God is. Am I saying I am the universe? I am. Just as my finger is me, I am a part of the universe, not separate from it, and so I am the universe.

existence is called "creation"
In terms of the "Creator", we ask who created God? Well, he always was and always will be because he is defined as being itself, whether or not there is even one particle of matter in the entire universe. He would still be the void. Some believe the universe was made from nothing. Poof! Presto, universe. I don't understand that realm of physics, or if that is even possible. I know physicist say stupid things like because we don't know where something is, it only exists as a probability. As if things only really exist when we perceive them. So, God created himself. Of course, there was never a "before" God, as he is defined as always and everywhere. Presto! God. Not only does he exist by definition, but "he" exists as the word itself. The word exists.

God is the Word.
The bible says, "In the beginning was the word, and the word was God." 'God.' God doesn't exist for a baby, until someone introduces the concept/word. God creates us, and we create God. God is a meme that we pass down through the generations, that survives because it helps us survive. Okay, maybe I messed that up a little. Your parents loved you, and so God existed in that sense. And they talk to you, so He exists in that respect, as well. 'He' also means laughter, and we always try and make babies laugh. Thirdly, 'God' itself is a word, which is introduced at a young age, to help children make sense of the world (that they can revise later).

2) God is Love, and God is One
God is love, and your parents making love is what (probably) created you. Presto! God the creator. Man and woman become One, in the act. Thus, one is god. You don't have to be an advanced mathematician to figure that One out. Love is not loving, of course. Love is not simply making love. It is the trinity of agape, eros, and philia. Sex is only one leg of the triangle. Making love is another way of saying creating God. For a parent, their child is God. If they have more than one child, God is still love, in the unity of purpose toward raising and loving them.

3) God is One
God is also one, because monotheism requires belief in One God, as one being. Secondly, if a religious "body" is to have unity, they can define themselves to be the body of God, one in the spirit, one in the lord, or what have you. God is a unity of being/single individual, and a unity of community.

4) God is a man of war
God is love, and evil is therefore hate, which causes suffering and all the rest. The devil is a hater, and loves to hate and make hate. This is where military psychology comes in. Should a soldier of the lord hate the haters? As my mom would say, you hate the act, not the person. Thus, you hate the hate, not the hater. But that makes you a hater, too. I would take the next step in logic to be, you shouldn't necessarily love the hate, but you should love the hater. And you should of course love yourself. What I'm saying is a soldier should not sacrifice himself as a gesture of love toward his enemy (who presumably hates him). A soldier almost always believes he must kill if it is kill or be killed. The 10 commandments say thou shalt not kill. So maybe no one should join any militaries? Presumably, God fights for peace. Jesus went by "the prince of peace." If killing is a sin, how can God be a man of war?

I answer this in 4 ways.
First of all, killing one's enemy is an act of last resort. All possible means must be taken first to turn one's "enemy" into someone who can see your perspective, at least, before ideally making them into your friend.

Secondly, war doesn't necessarily mean killing. It can be using "force" to fight for kindness, etc. against the forces of hatred, cruelty, and destruction, usually referred to as forces of "darkness." Force can be spiritual, and intellectual, and not just through the barrel of a gun or physical strength.

Thirdly, this verse comes from the old testament, and presumably applies only to "God's people", the Jews. I am not jewish, and I see no reason why God would choose a certain people, but not humanity at large, in his infinite capacity, but if the world at large is to see God as a man of war, then perhaps we can interpret this to be a reference to the military of a theocracy such as Israel, the Jewish state. It could also be the militaries of the United States, for example, "one nation under God" or of Libya, an Islamic republic, with a solid green flag to represent Islam.

Fourthly, God is love, so God fights, using any means necessary, one might surmise, for love (i.e. peace/kindness/unity). Jesus said to love your enemy. What is love? 1Cor13:4 says "love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, love is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." War, as America is in currently, is about national interests (Actually, we could say its about oil interests, or Dubya's interest in seeking redress on behalf of his father). So, presumably, loving one's enemy does not entail killing them. Kindness doesn't kill.
Aside: (debate and discuss) Love, unlike America, does not seek its own interests, the bible says. Jesus embodied this by allowing himself, without opposing, to be sacrificed on the cross, to do God's will. He identified his interest with God's more than his own, just as a soldier presumably identifies more with national interest than his own (or as much as). Soldiers are willing to die for their country. This is the meaning of honor. Or is it stupidity. Maybe both. If America is to be God's country, it must be rooted in love (not money, and oil, for example).

Obviously, "any means necessary" does not include any acts contrary to the precepts of love, such as harming someone in self-interested rage at wrongs or slights that snaps! and does not endure any longer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. But, we all know warriors kill. God says thou shalt not kill, only God is good, and vengeance is mine, sayeth the lord. So what does the lord do, how, and why, in his enacting of Vengeance? What is loving-vengeance? Is a "soldier of the lord" ever justified in violence? What about me, who is (playing with?) the identity of being God himself?

As God is love, I would say if someone is "in love" they are "in God", and therefore an extension of his being. They are not responsible for their actions, for they "let go, and let god." I admit, pairing "let go and let god" with "god is a man of war" is a bit scary. Upon reflection, I take that back. We are always responsible for our actions. If you go apeshit, and get all Mai Lai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mai_lai) on the world, you can hardly call that Godliness. We have some measure of control over exorcising our own demons, I believe. God is pure, and has no demons in him (that he can't defeat). Can people be "possessed" by God, and not be held liable for supposedly "wrong" behavior? This is where the law is lenient toward perpetrators of violent acts. Violence is not always wrongdoing. It can be done in a spirit of love. For example, if someone is raping your child, and you knock them out cold, or kill them, if you have to, your action is an act of love, I would say. In jewish mythology, there is mention of the gollum, who is a kind of undead creature who kills to protect Jews. If someone is a gollum, does that qualify as being "possessed" by God? On the other hand, I would say joining the military is usually fuelled by the desire to kill, and to become powerful/lethal, under the guise of honor, service, integrity, and other nice-sounding values and virtues.

Like I've said before, it's all mind control, and whatever.

Personally, I believe killing is just wrong, and the strongest soldier is the army of One who fights his own inner demons to the end, refraining from any kind of violence, no matter how savage and cruel his demons or reality may be. As the bible says, he who endures to the end shall be saved. Of course, this is not always possible, and the end may come sooner than later without appropriate self-defense. Endurance can be too much to ask of someone who does not believe in a heavenly reward. A life of utter misery possessed by the devil cannot be endured, and some measure of necessary kindness to one's self must be made, even if at the expense of another. Sometimes, life is hell. Maybe the violence itself IS the heavenly reward. Maybe God wants us to fight, literally, against evil.

Love believes all things. That's a pretty crazy statement.

I don't believe in an eternal hell, or an omnipotent God, or even a heaven (after life) to be "saved" for, though. You've just gotta do what you've gotta do. Jesus was crazy. I don't even believe in YHWH. I believe in me, myself, and I. That's my holy trinity.
